How To Find Time And Achieve Your Goals When You Have Kids?

When looking closer at success stories in Internet it’s easy to see that most of these people are young guys and gals. So when they talk about hustling they really have plenty of time to put into their goals. Those of us who already have kids see this differently. Oftentimes it seems that raising kids leads to no time for ourselves. It really does unless we’re intentional about our time.

Here are several ideas to keep in mind when organizing your journey:

  1. Don’t put stressful deadlines. Slow and steady progress which you enjoy is much better than stressful sprint leading to burnout. After one goal there will be another. One by one they lead you to your life vision. It’s a marathon. You need to be in a good shape during whole distance, not only first few stints. So add some extra buffer when deciding your deadlines.
  2. Make time for high energy tasks and stick to the schedule. This is basically creative work requiring concentration and longer uninterrupted chunk of time. With full time job there is actually not so many options. Obvious ones are early morning while everyone is still sleeping and late in the evening when everyone went to sleep. If you have flexible working hours than also consider to have an extended lunch break (e.g. 2 hours instead of 1 hour to have 90 minutes for your high energy tasks) and shifting your work hours (e.g. start working 2 hours later and spend this time on your goal).
  3. Address low energy tasks in random moments. You definitely have plenty of small tasks. These are easy to do while on the go. You don’t need special time to handle them. So if don’t have luxury to batch them then just do one or two whenever you have 5-10 minutes.

This will be a long way and sometimes it could be hard to keep moving. You’ve got to love what you do. Your passion and willpower work best together.
